The National Rifle Association is important to know about when discussing gun laws in that they are one of the biggest organizations supporting gun laws and the legalization of guns.
When entering social justice high school in 2008 I had very little knowledge of what social justice meant. Although , I did know that justice meant equality and social means the people of or relating to the people. So at the beginning of freshman year I thought that social justice meant Equality for the people. However as the years went by I learned that equality for the people is just one aspect of the entire definition of social justice.
As I can recall every year in one of my classes we discussed issues relating to social justice .For example, freshman year in world studies class we discussed race and how people rather have the color of their skin to determine which race was closet to theirs rather than dna. This connected to social justice because we used the color of our skin to determine social class and what race is more superior. This is an example of what social justice is ,which is not separating people based on the color of their skin.
Sophmore year in chemistry class we discussed how Africans in Sierra Leon are forced to work in diamond minds for little wages and under poor conditions This connects to social justice because these people are humans and they should have better job oppurtunities and should not be taken advantage of .However studying this topic wasn’t all negative contributions to how I define social justice learning about what happens to Africans in Sierrea Leon made me realize if you don’t stand up for your self then who will . I rather contribute something than nothing at all.
However it was senior year that gave me a completely clear analysis of what social justice is .African American Latino study class help me figure it out. Never in none of my classes have I ever went in depth on topics on African American history In Aflat class I learned that Africans were once as successful as Caucasians if not they were far more successful than them . However over the tears Caucasians took advantage of Africans and distorted our history leaving future generations of the African American communities lost, bewildered and confused in self -identification.
In my opinion minorities want social justice but we don’t have it because of how we are seen on the caste system and to the one percent There fore those highest on the caste system feels like why should we give equal oppurtunities to people that don’t matter and who are unimportant. We want Social justice but don’t have it because Of stereotypes that are associated with being an African American. Even if we succeed in getting a higher education its so hard because we are purposely sometimes prevented to succeed because of finacial problems Americans are seen as ghetto fabulous, thugs murders or criminals through movies media shows that are produced and are created by whites.
Also African Americans are stereotyped so badly that this connects to the excusses people use to justify the unjustifiable homicides done to African Americans. Hatred and jealousy has a lot to do with minorities wanting justice and not receiving it .For example whites distorted our history and made us slaves because they new about the great things we built They also knew that we were and still are capable of great things so they make us feel bad about our selves by having Africans Americans think they are worthless then they teach us that they are so worthy and great. They turn us against each other by establishing the fact that lighter skinned African Americans are better than darker skinned African Americans.
To make sure social justice exist people would simply say stop racism. However I think that’s impossible. But what we can do is educate people so that they know when they are treated unfairly and then they can raise awareness about the unjust situation they have experienced .We can also be fully educated about what the term social justice means. Their could be more schools created similar to social justce.
After Learning all of this usefull information my definition of Social justice has expanded . Today to me social justice means having The abilities of knowing who you are and not being restricted or not having boundaries set on who you can and can’t be. Social justice also , means being treated fairly regardless of race .Since many people practice social justice and since every one wants to be treated fairly they should ensure that they try not to label or judge a person based on race but upon character.
